Book Blogger Shout-Outs #43 - Finale Fright and Atmospheric Reads

In Shout Outs you will find book reviews, discussion posts, blogger events, and giveaways from bloggers across the web. I read a lot of blogs and I like to give love when I find a post I really like or admire. I also like to make you abreast of events and giveaways because those are awesome, too.  Bloggers put lots of work into those, as well.  I am now including either a quote directly from the post (with quotation marks and italicized) or a reason I liked it after each link.
In addition, I like to give shout outs to my readers.  I know there are lots of lurkers and silent readers and that's totally okay! I don't know how to say thank you other than right here saying THANK YOU FOR READING! YOU'RE AWESOME!  If you leave a comment during the week, I will give you a personal shout out on this post each Friday. Commenters are also eligible to receive a bookish prize pack.

PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer disregarding posts I missed in the last 2 weeks and only giving shout-outs to those this week alone. I often don't have time to comb through every single blog every week. So, announcement made, carry on.

I hope you find something interesting, exciting, and thought-provoking in the posts below!

-xoxo Becca

ENTERTAINING BOOK REVIEWS

1. Purity by Jonathan Franzen @ The New Dork Review of Books
"What's fun about this novel is its sheer volume of topic. Franzen utterly commands a reader's attention, as he's interesting on just about everything he writes about."

2.  The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich @ The Forest of Words and Pages
"If you want something creepy, tragic, and entirely absorbing, this is the book for you! Caution: Might not be the best book to read late at night."

 3. Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho @ The Book Nympho
"I am being sent some books I would not have read on my own path. Yet I am really enjoying them. I thank them wholeheartedly for opening my eyes to what I have been missing."

4. When Supernatural and Voodoo Work for Me: The Gates of Evangeline and The Star Side of Bird Hill @ Sarah's Book Shelves
"Supernatural and/or voodoo type elements are usually turn offs for me in books, but The Gates of Evangeline and The Star Side of Bird Hill are two debut novels that bucked the trend!"

5. A Taste of Heaven: A Novel by Penny Watson @ Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell
"It was different. A foodie romance that develops. Two people that are perfect for each other, but can't see it. So, a nice light short romance, that you can just eat up."

6. Mini-Reviews: Reading Like a (RIPX) Boss @ Estella's Revenge
"Horror, urban fantasy, science fiction...it's all right here wrapped up in one really involving book."

7. The Killing Kind by Chris Holm @ Jenn's Bookshelves
"The ending was so tremendous and so unexpected that I’m aching for more."
