Blogger Shout-Outs #38: Atlas Shrugged, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Marketing Blubs

This week I did a little extra something for book reviews.  Underneath the book and blog I included either a quote directly from the blogger's review (they are in quotation marks) or another reason I really enjoyed reading the review. Hope it inspires you to check them out!

If you're new to shout-outs, I like to feature book reviews and bookish posts that entertained and enlightened me this week in the blogosphere.  Plus, check out upcoming events and current giveaways going on in the community.

Please let me know what links you visited/are visiting in the list! The links all open in a new window so you can visit them and then come back to visit more places.  Be sure to consider leaving love wherever you visit!

-xoxo Becca

catalyst book cover

1. The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen @ Tif Talks Books

"I was quite shocked at how quickly this story drew me in."

2. Catalyst by Lydia Kang @ Luxury Reading
"I didn't realize it was the second book in a series until about a quarter of the way through, and even then, I still found myself enjoying the story."

3.  Misery by Stephen King @ Book Chatter
"Annie Wilkes is quite the character and King takes great pleasure in sharing all her cockadoodie mannerisms and oogie hygiene habits."  Haha yess.

4. Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe @ Gleaningful
I love the way Bryn breaks it down into each part of its awesomeness.

5. Something Must Be Done About Prince Edward County by Kristen Green @ Doing Dewey "I enjoyed this personal narrative, but I think the author could have done more to relate her story to modern issues of race and poverty."

 6. The Dog Stars by Peter Heller @ Words for Worms
"unusual first person narrative" "the apocalypse is my jam" "blow shiznit up"

The Last Leaves Falling by Sarah Benwell

7. Citizen: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine @ Estella's Revenge
First paragraph sold me on it.

8. The Last Leaves Falling by Sarah Benwell @ A Lovely Bookshelf
"Oh, this beautiful, difficult book. Fearlessly confronting in a painfully quiet way, and you guys…when I finished it, I turned to my spouse and said, “This book is going to get banned.”"

9. My Best Everything by Sarah Tomp @ Book Addiction
I really like the way Heather explained how this was a good but not stellar read for her.

10. Bone and Bread by Saleema Nawaz @ A Girl that Likes Books
"I think that, because I live in Montreal, the images described by the author, in the Plateau, walking around the city, felt so much more vivid. And yet, she also shows another side of the city that I am not familiar with, trough complex characters that have much more than one facet and even at the end are still changing."

11. The Woman Who Stole My Life by Marian Keyes @ Hazy Reads

"I don’t really read chick lit any more and this reminded me why. It’s not a bad story by any means but I was so frustrated by how it was drawn out."
