What I'm Reading This Week - 1.26.15

This week I finished two books and, per usual, I'm reading a ton of books at once.

I am not sure about The Last Breath or The Savage Girl.  I'm feeling meh about them.  Keep reading b/c it gets better or DNF?  To be decided.

I will be participating in Michelle's Winter's Readathon this week, which will help me read even more, I hope!

The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant
*For Review from Publisher and Edelweiss*
Read This Week: 37-100%
Pages Read: 161
Thoughts: I thought Mameh was a little "stereotypical Jewish mother", but I enjoyed the book. I really liked Addie so I liked discovering her life.

Beginner's Guide to Abstract Art by Laura Reiter
*For Review from Net Galley*
Read This week: 58
Thoughts: I liked trying out the techniques!

Psy-Q I am DNF'ing because it is incorrectly formatted and I am not messing with that nonsense.  I can't deal with it.  Why is this still happening in 2015?

Good Catholics: The Battle Over Abortion in the Catholic Church I am DNF'ing because while it is really interesting, I don't think it is 344 pages worth of interesting.  This is no fault of the author!  It is my error.  I think this is an important subject, I just don't think I can delve as deeply into this issue as I thought I could.

1,000 Foods to Eat Before You Die by Mimi Sheraton
Goodreads Link
*For Review* *For Travel the World in Books Foodie February*
On pg. 144 of 1,008
Pages Read This Week: 142
Thoughts: I've been to Britain, Ireland, and France.  Next up is Belgian and Dutch cuisine.

The Last Breath by Kimberly Belle
*For Review from Harlequin*
This Week: 7-13%
Pages Read: 24
Thoughts: I'm not feeling this one. I'm not sure if it is the book or if I have read too many character-driven books lately.  Have any of you read it? Should I stick with it?

Anni Moon and the Elemental Artifact by Melanie Abed
*For Review*
This Week: 0-7%
Pages Read: 22
Thoughts: Adorable!

The Oathbreaker's Shadow by Amy McCulloch
*For Review from Publisher and NetGalley*
This Week: 0-9%
Pages Read: 37
Thoughts: I'm so intrigued.  And McCulloch was quick to sweep me right into this world!

The Wonder of Ordinary Magic by Lilli Jougren Day
*Just for Fun*
So Far: 43-72%
Pages Read: 74
Thoughts: This is an interesting story but I'm ready for something to happen.

The Three by Sarah Lotz
*Just for Fun*
On pg. 191 of 467
Pages Read This Week: 66
Thoughts: I'm enjoying this one.

Savage Girl: A Novel by Jean Zimmerman
*Just for Fun*
On pg. 134 of 402
Pages Read This Week: 0
Thoughts: I can't decide about this one. When I'm reading it, it's not too bad, but I never want to pick it up again.

Flukes (Flukes #1) by Nichole Chase
*For a Fun Read*
This Week: 0-7%
Pages Read This Week: 11
Thoughts: I picked this up (or opened it on my Kindle) because I realized I was reading some pretty heavy books.  Chase does a great job at whimsy.  I'm going to read it in between my heavier reads.

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
*Library Loot*
On pg. 34 of 311
Pages Read This Week: 34
Thoughts: It's already shaping up to be a creepy dystopian read.

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
*Travel the World in Books January Readalong*
On pg.381 of 546
Pages Read This Week: 222
Thoughts: Even though this is the third time I've read it, I'm still sad it has to end!

Be Safe I Love You by Cara Hoffman
Goodreads Link
*Postcard Mailbox Book Club*
On pg. 88 of 289

Thoughts: It's getting good.  You can really see her beginning to detach.
