You voted and I listened. You wanted to hear more about music on my blog and I am delivering! Especially since it is fun. :D
Just like my reading tastes, my taste in music runs pretty eclectic too, from alternative rock to classical to hip hop. Lately, I've been pretty heavy into alternative rock, indie rock, and folk rock.
Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man
If you don't know who M&S are, crawl out from under your rock and turn up the volume on this! This English band is amazing. This video is of Little Lion Man, one of my favorites by them. If you dig this, check out the rest of their songs, each one better than the last.
He's My Brother, She's My Sister - Clackin' Heels
A little-known band that is so fun and unique I don't know how they aren't absolutely everywhere. There is even a tap-dancing drummer! I've met them and they are also awesome, nice people. This is one of my favorites by them, though I have about a dozen. :D
Great Lake Swimmers- Everything is Moving So Fast
This is a song that I love to chill out to and by the end of it, you will agree with them.
Sponge - Plowed
This song takes me back to my youth in the mid-90s, when music was magnificently deep. If you are familiar with the grunge/alternative 90s, you still might not even remember this song until you hear it.
Eels - Novacaine for the Soul
The original video on YouTube had embedding disabled so this is still the song, but no video, just photos. This song has one of the best first lines "Life is hard, and so am I." That is awesome, imo. If you are wondering what that line is he mumbles it is "before I sputter out."
The New Pornographers - The Laws Have Changed
I actually found this song thanks to the Showtime series, Weeds (which incidentally is one of the best TV shows, ever and soundtracks ever, thankyouverymuch). The name is a misnomer, there is no nudity in this video. The song has a very 60s-beach music feel and I guarantee it will be stuck in your head. :)
Audioslave - Show Me How to Live
My boyfriend and I both love Audioslave. They have such a great rock sound and the lead singer is Chris Cornell, of Soundgarden, another band I love from back in the day.
Toad the Wet Sprocket- Walk on the Ocean
I am hoping (if I feel well enough) to go to see Toad the Wet Sprocket in about a week with some friends when they come to Charlotte. This is their most famous song, and my favorite.
What have you been listening to the most the past few weeks?
