Little Things --30 Minus 2 Days of Writing

Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most.  I was thinking about the little things that happen in relationships.  Often it is not the grand gestures that bring two people closer together, but the little details and everyday actions that cement a relationship.

~Warming the car up before they get in on a wintry day.
~Holding their hand while driving in the car.
~Listening to a song on the radio you dislike because they like it.
~Offering to get them something to drink when you go to the kitchen.
~Checking the tire pressure on their car.
~Leaving a message for them on the bathroom mirror that they will see in the steam after they shower.
~Curling up beside them to watch their favorite TV show.
~Giving them a shoulder rub after a hard workout or a tough day at work.
~A random text during the day to let them know you are thinking of them.
~A kiss before bed.
~Bringing them extra blankets and chicken soup when they have a cold.
~Making sure they always have clean clothes.
~Reading a book they like so you can discuss it with them.
~Letting them know about a song/book/movie/tv show they would enjoy when you see/hear it.
~Taking them a glass of cold lemonade or hot coffee (depending on the weather) to them outside when they are cutting the grass or working on the car or weeding the garden.
~Inviting them to hang out with your friends and bragging to your friends about how wonderful/beautiful/sexy/perfect for you your significant other is.

Little things add up and in time become the big things that make you feel loved, wanted, and needed.

This post was inspired by the 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing challenge.

  1. This was all wonderfully true. The little things can become really big things when done for the right reasons. :)

  2. This is an awesome list. And you're right … it is those little things that make the difference.

  3. Yes, yes, yes!! Love those little things!!
