What Do You Think?

What Do You Think?  is a new feature on Lost in Books.  Each week I will pose a question on a literary topic, quote, or the like.  Just share your opinions in the comments!  All opinions are welcomed and encouraged! :)

This week:

What time period do you prefer your books set in?  Do you like historical settings?  Contemporary?  Futuristic?  Dystopian?  Or a mixture?

Share in the comments!

I like contemporary settings but don't mind the 20th century.

Good question :) I'm a giant fan of historical settings

  3. I tend to enjoy either historical or futuristic (marriage of those two = steampunk, which is future with trappings of the past, aka best idea ever!) settings. Great question!

  4. I tend to prefer either historical or contemporary, but I'm open-minded. :) Honestly setting's not as important to me as characters and a good story.

  5. I have yet to try steampunk, which is absolutely crazy since I like historic and futuristic settings, too!

  6. You can't have a good story without a good plot or characters! I know I tend to like the plot and characters of either historical, futuristic, or dystopian settings better, too, though!

  7. I'm not big on contemporary settings, but there are several contemporary books that I enjoyed despite myself :D

  10. My preference is usually contemporary or the future (the weirder the better).

  11. All of the above. The future books can be interesting if we reach those dates in our life time. We were watching iRobot (I have not read the book I must confess) and we noticed (remember movie came out in 2004) that Wil Smiths character waves a credit card thing over the table to pay his bill aaannnnddd we have that technology now (not well used but there). I love it when you read/watch futuristic stuff and realise it has come true. The you see stuff like the Jetsons and think "where is my flying car??".

BUT I do prefer historical fiction particularly ancient civilisations like Rome of Egypt. I am not sure I would want to live in those times but read about it YES!
