This weekly event is hosted by Cara from Ooh...Books!. Today I would like to share a poem that I recently discovered.
Surprise
by Beverly McLoughland
The biggest
Surprise
On the library shelf
is when you suddenly
Find yourself
Inside a book-
(the HIDDEN you)
You wonder how
The author knew.
How many times have we felt that way? Is there a particular book that this poem brings to mind for you?
6 Witty Remarks:
It happens to me often in Bill Bryson books - I'm usually chortling away over some character's inanity, when I realize with a jolt i do that too!
LOL. Isn't that crazy when that happens? You don't even realize sometimes that it is you. I have had that happen to me before as well.
The Bell Jar. Lordy, that book freaked me out.
I haven't read The Bell Jar yet.
The Bell Jar was a great book - full of emotion. But I am glad I did not see myself in those pages.
I always felt A Tree Grows In Brooklyn must have been written just for me. Francie loved books the same way I did when I read that novel at her age.
I just love this poem!
