RIP Frank McCourt

Frank McCourt, the Irish-American storyteller who parlayed the miseries of a Limerick upbringing into an extraordinary late-life literary blooming, died of cancer Sunday in New York City.

Frank McCourt is the author of Angela's Ashes, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1997, 'Tis, and Teacher Man.

  1. Angela's Ashes is one of my favorite books of all time. I am so sad to hear about Frank McCourt's death. He was very much a survivor.

  4. What?! How did I not hear about this until now? I had no idea he had been ill. Such a shame. I saw him on a documentary special once and he was so funny - it was a tour of pubs or something. Loved his writing, his stories, his outlook.
